Tour Overview

Swap Cairo’s dust for a salt-tinged Mediterranean breeze on this full-day journey to Alexandria, the coastal jewel Alexander the Great founded more than two millennia ago. Cruise the sweeping Corniche past painted fishing skiffs, then walk the ramparts of Qaitbay Citadel, planted on the very rocks where the fabled Pharos lighthouse once threw its beam across the sea. Beneath the streets lies the strange, three-tiered Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, where Egyptian, Greek, and Roman motifs mingle in stone. Back in daylight, crane your neck at towering Pompey’s Pillar and admire the disc-shaped Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a modern echo of the ancient library that once held the world’s knowledge. Between stops, your private guide unspools stories of Cleopatra, scholars, and sailors while you travel in air-conditioned ease. Book your Alexandria City Tour with Daily Pyramids Tours and let the sea air set the pace.

Itinerary

Your guide will meet you in the morning at your hotel, and together you will set out in a private air-conditioned vehicle to begin your journey through the wonders of Alexandria. The day’s visits include Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, an underground necropolis where Pharaonic, Greek, and Roman art blend together; Pompey’s Pillar, a massive red granite column that stands as one of Alexandria’s most iconic monuments; Qaitbay Citadel, a defensive fortress built in the 15th century on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, offering sweeping views of the Mediterranean; and Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a striking modern library and cultural center that revives the legacy of the ancient Great Library. During the tour, you will also enjoy a freshly prepared seafood lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the sea (vegetarian options available). At the end of the day, you will be comfortably transferred back to your hotel.

Travel Policy Guide of Daily Pyramids Tours

Pricing Policy

Every rate at Daily Pyramids Tours is published in US Dollars (USD) unless the itinerary states otherwise. We are happy to settle in other major currencies too, including Euros (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP), converted at the official exchange rate on the day payment is made.

Because our prices track live market conditions, seasonal demand, and service availability, quotes may shift without notice. As soon as your deposit or full payment reaches us, however, your rate is locked and guaranteed for the trip you have booked.

What’s Included in Our Packages:

  • Comfortable accommodation as detailed in your itinerary
  • Private or group transportation
  • Professional, licensed tour guides
  • Daily breakfast and other meals as specified
  • Entrance fees to included attractions
  • Domestic flights or transfers (where applicable)
  • 24/7 on-ground support

Please review your individual booking confirmation and itinerary for the precise list of inclusions and exclusions that applies to your trip.

Holiday Supplement:

A 25% surcharge applies to all Nile Cruises and tour packages travelling during the Christmas, New Year, and Easter windows, reflecting the sharp lift in seasonal demand.

Booking Confirmation Policy

To keep your booking with Daily Pyramids Tours moving smoothly, we apply different payment schedules depending on the kind of experience you have chosen:

  • Day Tours & Excursions: Full payment (100%) is required at booking to confirm your reservation.
  • Multi-Day Tour Packages & Nile Cruises: A 30% deposit is required to secure your booking. The balance must be paid at least 15 days before arrival.
  • Christmas, New Year & Easter Bookings: Due to high seasonal demand, a 50% deposit is needed to confirm reservations during these periods.

Once payment clears, we email your written confirmation, a personalised itinerary, and any travel documents you will need on the road. Receipts are issued for every payment.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Life happens and plans shift, so our cancellation policy is straightforward:

  • 30 days or more before arrival: Full refund minus any bank or transaction fees
  • 15 to 29 days before arrival: 25% cancellation fee of total tour cost
  • 7 to 14 days before arrival: 50% cancellation fee
  • Less than 7 days before arrival or no-show: 100% cancellation fee

Eligible refunds are settled within 14 business days from the moment we receive your written cancellation. A handful of cruises and hotels enforce stricter terms of their own, and those will be flagged clearly in your itinerary from the outset.

Children Policy

Families are warmly welcome at Daily Pyramids Tours, and the following children’s rates apply:

  • Infants under 2 years: Free of charge
  • Children 2–5 years: 25% of adult price
  • Children 6–11 years: 50% of adult price
  • Children 12 years and above: Full adult price

These discounts apply when children share a room with two full-paying adults. Certain Nile Cruises and luxury hotels operate their own rules for younger guests, and any exceptions will be spelled out clearly in your itinerary before you commit.

Optional Visits & Entry Tickets

Some of Egypt’s most memorable moments sit outside the standard package as optional add-ons you can pre-book or arrange on the ground, subject to availability. Popular choices include:

  • Entry inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu and other tombs
  • Sound & Light Shows at Giza Pyramids, Karnak, or Philae Temples
  • Hot air balloon rides over Luxor at sunrise
  • Camel rides or horse-drawn carriage tours in historic districts
  • Private photo sessions at iconic landmarks

Optional experiences can be settled in USD or Egyptian Pounds (EGP). We strongly suggest booking ahead during high season to avoid disappointment.

Additional Expenses to Budget For

Our packages are generous, but it’s wise to keep a little pocket money aside for:

  • Personal purchases (souvenirs, snacks, etc.)
  • Beverages during meals unless specified
  • Hotel extras (minibar, room service, laundry, etc.)
  • Egypt entry visa fees (usually payable on arrival)
  • SIM cards or internet access unless provided
  • Gratuities and optional experiences

We recommend carrying a modest amount of local currency (EGP) with you, especially handy for tipping and browsing colourful local markets.

Tipping Guidelines in Egypt

Tipping, known locally as “baksheesh”, is the customary way to thank someone for good service in Egypt. It’s never compulsory, but it is genuinely appreciated:

  • Tour guide: $15–$20 per day per group
  • Driver: $5–$10 per day per group
  • Nile Cruise crew: $5–$10 per person per night (shared among staff)
  • Hotel staff (porters, housekeeping): Small tips of $1–$2

Gratuities are not included in your package price, so it helps to keep a stash of small USD or EGP notes handy throughout your journey.

FAQ

What is the Best Time to Travel to Egypt?

The sweet spot for visiting Egypt is the winter stretch from November to February, when the days are warm, the evenings are cool, and outdoor icons like the pyramids and temples can be explored in comfort. Peak summer, June to August, is best avoided if you can help it, as the mercury regularly climbs above 40°C (104°F) across much of the country.

What is needed to enter Egypt?

Most travellers arriving in Egypt should have the following ready:

  • Passport: Valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

  • Visa: Depending on your nationality, you may need to secure a visa in advance or on arrival. Several nationalities also qualify for an e-visa.

  • Travel Insurance: Strongly recommended to cover medical emergencies and any other surprises on the road.

  • Vaccinations: No specific jabs are required for entry, but it’s always worth a quick chat with your healthcare provider about any recommended shots.

Is it Safe to Travel to Egypt Right Now?

Egypt is generally regarded as a safe destination for international visitors. Considerable investment has gone into securing tourist sites and major cities, and a visible presence around key monuments adds an extra layer of reassurance. As with any trip abroad, we still suggest reviewing your government’s latest travel advice and keeping an eye on local news before and during your visit.

How do I book a trip?

  • Decide Your Travel Dates and Budget
Pin down when you’d like to go and roughly what you’re prepared to spend. This gives you a clear frame for flights, hotels, and tour choices.

  • Choose Your Itinerary and Destinations
Egypt is packed with headline destinations, from Cairo and the Pyramids of Giza to Luxor, Aswan, the Nile Cruise, Alexandria, and the Red Sea resorts. Decide which of them you want to weave in, and how long to linger.

  • Find a Reliable Tour Operator or Travel Agency
You can go direct with a local Egyptian operator, use an international agency, or book through a specialist online platform. Whichever route you pick, dig into reviews and ratings before committing.

  • Select a Tour Package or Customize Your Trip
Many operators offer ready-made packages bundling flights, hotels, transport, and guided touring. If you prefer, you can also build a bespoke itinerary shaped around your interests and budget.

  • Make a Reservation
Once your itinerary is set, confirm availability with your operator, share your personal details, and pay the deposit or full amount as their policy requires.

  • Prepare Your Travel Documents
Double-check your passport’s validity and secure an Egyptian visa if you need one. Reconfirm every booking and print or save your itinerary, hotel vouchers, and tour confirmations.

  • Pack and Get Ready
Pack for the season and for your planned activities. Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and a universal travel adapter are non-negotiable essentials.

  • Enjoy Your Trip!
Once you land, follow your itinerary, keep in touch with your guide or agency, and throw yourself into Egypt’s remarkable culture and history.

Is Tipping Included in the Tour Price?

Tipping, or “baksheesh”, is deeply woven into everyday life in Egypt and is not usually built into the tour price. It’s customary to thank guides, drivers, and hotel staff with a small gratuity, adjusted to how helpful they’ve been. A useful benchmark is around 10-15% of the bill or the cost of the service in question.
