Head first to the Giza Plateau. The Great Pyramid of Khufu commands the horizon, flanked by the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, while the Sphinx, that lion-bodied guardian with a pharaoh’s face, gazes out across the sand. A short walk away, the Valley Temple recalls the elaborate rituals used to prepare kings for the afterlife.
Pause at a well-regarded local restaurant for lunch, then continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). After breakfast, a short transfer takes you to Cairo Airport for the domestic hop down to Aswan. A driver greets you on landing and your southern sightseeing begins straight away.
First stop is the High Dam, a feat of modern engineering that transformed Egyptian agriculture and put an end to the Nile’s annual floods.
A short motorboat crossing then delivers you to Philae Temple, moved stone by stone to Agilkia Island when the dam threatened to swallow it. Dedicated to Isis, the sanctuary is a lovely tangle of mythological reliefs set on a peaceful river island.
From there you’ll board your Nile cruiser for check-in. Lunch is served on deck as the vessel eases north towards Kom Ombo.

Breakfast is taken on deck as the river slides by. You then step ashore at Kom Ombo Temple, an unusual twin sanctuary shared by Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder, the falcon deity. Back on board, lunch is served as the boat continues towards Edfu.
The afternoon is given to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, one of the most complete temples in the country, its lofty pylons and crisp reliefs surviving almost intact.

The cruiser moors in Luxor. After breakfast you cross the Nile to the West Bank, the burial ground of the New Kingdom’s rulers.
Descend into the Valley of the Kings, where pharaoh after pharaoh was laid to rest in tombs still bright with painted scenes of the journey to the afterlife.
Nearby stands the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, its long colonnaded terraces cut dramatically into the cliff to honour Egypt’s most celebrated female pharaoh. A short drive on brings you to the Colossi of Memnon, two seated giants that once flanked a temple long since vanished.
Return to the boat for a lazy afternoon on deck as the river ambles beneath you.

Enjoy one last breakfast on board, then check out and head to the monumental Karnak Temple, whose Great Hypostyle Hall bristles with 134 papyrus columns arranged in astonishing symmetry.

Afterwards you’ll be transferred to Luxor Airport for the short flight to Sharm El Sheikh, where your driver meets you and delivers you to your beachfront resort.

Wake to the gentle hush of the Red Sea. The day is entirely yours — swim, doze in the sun, tuck into a long lunch or make use of the resort’s spa and pools.
