Tour Overview

Swap the tour coach for a leisurely stroll and let Alexandria reveal itself one street at a time. This guided downtown walk weaves through the Mediterranean city’s most evocative quarters, past weathered Belle Epoque facades, humming coffee houses, dusty bookshops and shaded arcades that still hold the memory of a cosmopolitan port. You will pause in wide public squares, duck under colonnaded walkways and drift through lively markets, stopping wherever a story deserves telling or a photograph asks to be taken. Your local guide brings the poets, merchants, architects and salt-tinged sea breezes to life in easy conversation. Relaxed, richly detailed and thoroughly atmospheric, this is the most personal way to meet the real Alex. Slip on comfortable shoes and set out with Daily Pyramids Tours.

Itinerary

Your guide will meet you in the morning at your hotel, and together you will set out in a private air-conditioned vehicle to begin your journey through the wonders of Alexandria. The day’s visits include Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, an underground necropolis where Pharaonic, Greek, and Roman art blend together; Pompey’s Pillar, a massive red granite column that stands as one of Alexandria’s most iconic monuments; Qaitbay Citadel, a defensive fortress built in the 15th century on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, offering sweeping views of the Mediterranean; and Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a striking modern library and cultural center that revives the legacy of the ancient Great Library. During the tour, you will also enjoy a freshly prepared seafood lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the sea (vegetarian options available). At the end of the day, you will be comfortably transferred back to your hotel.

Travel Policy Guide of Daily Pyramids Tours

Pricing Policy

Every quotation from Daily Pyramids Tours is issued in US Dollars (USD) as our standard currency, unless we have agreed otherwise. Guests are welcome to settle in other leading currencies too, including Euros (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP), converted at the official exchange rate on the day the payment is made.

Because our rates track live market conditions, seasonal peaks and supplier availability, they can move without notice. The moment your deposit or full balance reaches us, however, the price on your booking is locked and protected from any later change.

What Your Package Covers:

  • Comfortable accommodation exactly as set out in your itinerary
  • Private or shared group transportation
  • Licensed, professional Egyptologist guides
  • Daily breakfast plus any additional meals listed
  • Entrance fees for the sites on your programme
  • Domestic flights and transfers where the itinerary includes them
  • Round-the-clock, 24/7 on-ground assistance

Please refer to your personal booking confirmation and itinerary for the precise list of inclusions and exclusions on your trip.

Peak Season Supplement:

A 25% surcharge is added to every Nile Cruise and tour package that falls within the Christmas, New Year and Easter holiday windows to reflect exceptional demand.

Booking Confirmation Policy

To keep your booking with Daily Pyramids Tours simple and secure, our payment structure is tailored to the type of service you choose:

  • Day Tours & Excursions: Full payment (100%) is due at the time of booking to confirm your place.
  • Multi-Day Tour Packages & Nile Cruises: A 30% deposit locks in the reservation, with the remaining balance settled at least 15 days before your arrival.
  • Christmas, New Year & Easter Bookings: Peak-season pressure means a 50% deposit is required to confirm bookings across these dates.

Once payment reaches us, you will receive written confirmation, a personalised itinerary and your travel documents by email, along with formal receipts for every transaction.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Plans shift, and we allow for that. Our cancellation schedule reads as follows:

  • 30 days or more before arrival: Full refund, less any bank or transaction charges
  • 15 to 29 days before arrival: 25% cancellation fee on the total tour cost
  • 7 to 14 days before arrival: 50% cancellation fee
  • Less than 7 days before arrival or no-show: 100% cancellation fee

Where a refund is due, it is issued within 14 business days of us receiving your written cancellation. Certain Nile cruises and hotels operate on stricter cancellation rules, and those will be flagged clearly inside your itinerary.

Children Policy

Family travel is at the heart of what we do, and our children’s pricing is structured to make it easy:

  • Infants under 2 years: Free of charge
  • Children 2–5 years: 25% of the adult price
  • Children 6–11 years: 50% of the adult price
  • Children 12 years and above: Full adult price

These reductions apply when the child shares a room with two full-paying adults. Please note that some Nile cruises and luxury hotels apply their own rules for younger travellers, and any such conditions will be spelled out in your itinerary where they apply.

Optional Visits & Entry Tickets

Certain signature experiences sit outside the standard programme and can be added either in advance or, subject to availability, on the ground. Popular add-ons include:

  • Entry inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu and other tombs
  • Sound & Light Shows at Giza Pyramids, Karnak, or Philae Temples
  • Hot air balloon rides over Luxor at sunrise
  • Camel rides or horse-drawn carriage tours in historic districts
  • Private photo sessions at iconic landmarks

Optional experiences may be settled in USD or local currency (EGP). We strongly recommend booking ahead, particularly during the busy travel seasons.

Additional Expenses to Budget For

Our packages are wide-ranging, but a small daily budget is wise for the following:

  • Personal shopping, souvenirs and snacks along the way
  • Drinks at mealtimes unless expressly included
  • Hotel extras such as minibar, room service and laundry
  • The Egypt entry visa, generally paid on arrival
  • Local SIM cards or data unless we have provided them
  • Gratuities and any optional experiences added on-site

Carrying a modest amount of Egyptian pounds (EGP) is helpful, especially for tipping and picking up small purchases at neighbourhood markets.

Tipping Guidelines in Egypt

Tipping, known locally as baksheesh, is the traditional way of acknowledging good service in Egypt. It is never obligatory, but it is always welcomed:

  • Tour guide: $15–$20 per day per group
  • Driver: $5–$10 per day per group
  • Nile Cruise crew: $5–$10 per person per night (shared among staff)
  • Hotel staff (porters, housekeeping): Small tips of $1–$2

Gratuities are not included in the package price, so keeping a few small USD or EGP notes on hand makes tipping simple throughout your trip.

FAQ

What is the Best Time to Travel to Egypt?

Egypt is at its most inviting from November through February, when winter delivers gentle daytime warmth that is ideal for wandering the pyramids, temples and open-air sites. The height of summer, June to August, is best sidestepped, since the mercury frequently climbs above 40°C (104°F) across much of the country.

What is needed to enter Egypt?

A short document checklist covers most nationalities arriving in Egypt:

  • Passport: Must remain valid for at least six months from your date of entry.

  • Visa: Rules vary by passport; you may need to apply in advance, obtain one on arrival, or in some cases use the e-visa portal.

  • Travel Insurance: Strongly recommended to protect against medical costs and unexpected trip disruptions.

  • Vaccinations: None are formally required for entry, though it is wise to consult your doctor about routine or recommended jabs.

Is it Safe to Travel to Egypt Right Now?

Egypt is broadly regarded as a safe destination for visitors. Substantial security measures are in place around tourist landmarks and in the major cities, and the industry works hard to keep travellers well looked after. As with any international trip, it is sensible to review your government’s current travel advice and to keep an eye on local news while you are here.

How do I book a trip?

  • Set Your Dates and Budget
Pin down when you would like to travel and what you are prepared to spend. Fixing these two variables early makes choosing flights, hotels and tours far easier.

  • Map Out Your Itinerary and Destinations
Egypt’s greatest hits include Cairo, the Pyramids of Giza, Luxor, Aswan, a Nile Cruise, Alexandria and the Red Sea coast. Decide which cities call loudest and how many nights each deserves.

  • Choose a Trusted Tour Operator or Travel Agency
Options range from local Egyptian specialists to global agencies and reputable online platforms. Reading recent reviews and ratings is the surest way to gauge who to trust.

  • Pick a Package or Design a Bespoke Trip
Ready-made packages neatly bundle flights, hotels, transport and guided tours. Prefer something tailored? Most reputable operators will happily build a route around your interests and pace.

  • Confirm Your Reservation
Once the itinerary is settled, contact the operator to secure availability. You will share your traveller details and pay either a deposit or the full amount, depending on their policy.

  • Sort Your Travel Documents
Double-check that your passport is in date and arrange an Egyptian visa if one is required. Reconfirm bookings and print (or save digitally) itineraries, hotel vouchers and tour confirmations.

  • Pack Smart
Pack for the season and the activities on your programme. Comfortable walking shoes, high-factor sunscreen and a universal travel adapter belong on every Egypt checklist.

  • Enjoy the Journey
Once you land, follow the itinerary, keep in easy touch with your guide or agency, and lose yourself in Egypt’s astonishing sweep of history and culture.

Is Tipping Included in the Tour Price?

Tipping, or baksheesh, is woven into daily life in Egypt and is not built into your tour price. Guides, drivers, hotel staff and other service providers all appreciate a small acknowledgement, and a helpful benchmark is around 10-15% of the relevant bill or service cost, adjusted up or down according to the care you receive.
