Tour Overview

Set your compass to the world’s most storied river and let the Nile Style Nile Cruise carry you between Aswan and Luxor at the pace the pharaohs would have known. Palm groves drift past your cabin window, feluccas lean into the breeze, and each morning ashore opens onto another chapter of ancient Egypt — the colossal courts of Karnak, the twin sanctuaries of Kom Ombo, the falcon-god’s stronghold at Edfu, and the sacred island silhouette of Philae. Back aboard, softly lit lounges, sun-warmed decks and generous Egyptian and international menus keep things effortless, while evenings settle into starlit water and the slow music of the river. Itinerary

3 Nights from Aswan to Luxor

Day 1: Arrival in Aswan – Aswan City Tour

Your Egyptian chapter opens the moment you step off at Aswan Airport or your hotel lobby, where a Daily Pyramids representative is waiting to greet you and stays with you throughout the day’s sightseeing. A private air-conditioned vehicle sets off first for the High Dam, the great modern feat of engineering that tamed the Nile’s yearly floods and rescued a legacy of Nubian monuments from being lost forever.

From there you head to the Unfinished Obelisk, still cradled in the pink granite quarry where a hairline crack halted the ancient masons mid-project — a fascinating open-air workshop that reveals exactly how such colossi were shaped and lifted.

A motorized felucca then skims you across the Nile to Philae Temple, the sacred island shrine of Isis whose every block was patiently relocated to Agilkia Island. Time permitting, an optional sail around Elephantine Island and the First Cataract reveals the tumble of granite islets that give Aswan its distinctive character.

Lunch is taken at a local restaurant before you board your Nile cruise vessel for check-in. Dinner is served onboard, and the first night is spent moored in Aswan.

Meals: Lunch – Dinner

Day 2: Kom Ombo & Sailing to Edfu

After breakfast onboard, a private vehicle drives you roughly 45 km north to Kom Ombo, home to one of Egypt’s most unusual monuments. The Temple of Kom Ombo is laid out as a perfectly mirrored double temple, one half devoted to the crocodile god Sobek and the other to Haroeris, a warrior form of Horus.

You will trace both sets of sanctuaries, hypostyle halls and ritual chambers, then step next door to the Crocodile Museum, where the mummified crocodiles unearthed around the temple are dramatically displayed.

Following lunch at a local restaurant, you rejoin the cruise and it slips its moorings, gliding north toward Edfu. The afternoon belongs to the deck chair, as sugarcane fields, riverside villages and sandstone cliffs roll past in the classic Upper Egyptian panorama.

An evening briefing prepares you for tomorrow’s temple visit, and the vessel moors overnight at Edfu.

Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner

Day 3: Edfu Temple & Arrival in Luxor

After breakfast, a horse-drawn carriage clip-clops you through Edfu’s streets to the Temple of Horus, the most completely preserved ancient monument to survive in Egypt.

Inside, towering pylons, cavernous halls and finely cut inscriptions bring to life the mythic duel between Horus and Seth and the elaborate rituals of the Ptolemaic priesthood. Because the temple has come down to us so intact, you can climb through nearly every architectural level, right up to its rooftop terraces.

Back on board, the ship resumes its passage north toward Luxor, with lunch served during the sail.

On arrival you head straight to Luxor Temple on the East Bank, a sanctuary layered by generations of rulers including Amenhotep III and Ramesses II.

Its great colonnades, open courts and sphinx-lined avenue evoke the ceremonial heartbeat of ancient Thebes. The cruise ties up overnight in Luxor.

Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner

Day 4: Luxor West Bank & Departure

After breakfast and disembarkation, you cross to the West Bank of Luxor — the great necropolis of ancient Thebes. The morning begins in the Valley of the Kings, where three royal tombs are entered to reveal vivid wall paintings and sacred spells written to guide pharaohs through the afterlife.

Next comes the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, a soaring three-tiered masterpiece dug into the cliff face and dedicated to one of Egypt’s most formidable female rulers.

A final pause is made at the Colossi of Memnon, the two seated giants that once flanked the entrance to a long-vanished mortuary temple. After lunch, a private transfer delivers you to Luxor Airport or your hotel for departure.

4 Nights from Luxor to Aswan

Day 1: Arrival in Luxor – East Bank Exploration

Your journey begins the moment you land at Luxor Airport or step onto the platform of the train station, where a Daily Pyramids representative is waiting to welcome you and a private air-conditioned vehicle carries you to your Nile cruise vessel.

Once check-in is complete, sightseeing opens with a guided walk through the Karnak Temple Complex, the largest religious structure ever raised, expanded by pharaoh after pharaoh across two millennia.

You continue to Luxor Temple, a New Kingdom jewel once tethered to Karnak by the great Avenue of Sphinxes.

Lunch is served during the day at a local restaurant before you return to the cruise ship for a first night moored in Luxor.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: West Bank of Luxor – Sailing Toward Edfu

After breakfast, you cross to the West Bank of Luxor for a guided descent into the Valley of the Kings, where more than 60 royal tombs shelter astonishingly bright scenes of the ancient Egyptian afterlife.

The morning continues at the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, an architectural marvel sculpted into the golden cliffs and dedicated to Egypt’s most powerful female pharaoh.

A brief stop follows at the Colossi of Memnon, the two monumental statues that mark what remains of Amenhotep III’s once-vast mortuary complex.

Following lunch at a local restaurant, you rejoin the cruise as it casts off south toward Edfu. Overnight is spent onboard while sailing along the Nile.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples

The cruise moors at Edfu, where a horse-drawn carriage rattles you through the town to a guided visit of the Temple of Horus.

Superbly preserved from the Ptolemaic era, this sanctuary of the falcon god counts among the most complete ancient temples anywhere in Egypt.

After the visit you rejoin the vessel as it continues toward Kom Ombo, where you tour a singular double temple honouring both Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris, a warrior form of Horus.

Its perfect symmetry and riverside setting make it one of the most striking monuments along the Nile. Lunch is served onboard as the ship sails, then continues its passage toward Aswan.

Overnight onboard in Aswan.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Aswan Highlights and Nile Sailing

The day opens at the High Aswan Dam, a landmark of twentieth-century engineering that transformed Egypt’s farmland and water supply while giving rise to the vast expanse of Lake Nasser.

Next you visit the Unfinished Obelisk, a giant granite monolith abandoned in its quarry mid-carving — a rare open-air lesson in ancient stone-working technique.

A motorboat then ferries you to Philae Island for a guided walk through the Temple of Isis, a Ptolemaic sanctuary painstakingly relocated after the Aswan Dam’s construction.

Lunch follows at a local restaurant before you drift out on a traditional felucca, gliding around Elephantine Island for an unhurried river-level view of Aswan’s granite outcrops and everyday Nile life.

You return to the cruise vessel for a final night onboard.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5: Departure from Aswan

Following a leisurely breakfast onboard, you check out from the cruise vessel and a private air-conditioned vehicle transfers you to Aswan Airport or the train station for your onward journey.

FAQ

How Much Does a Cruise on the Nile Cost?

Nile cruise pricing shifts with the length of the sailing, the standard of the vessel, and the services rolled into the fare. For a 3-4 night cruise on a mid-range to luxury ship, expect a per-person cost in the region of $600 to $900. Higher-end deluxe vessels with richer amenities or longer itineraries naturally sit above that band.

What is the Best Month for a Nile River Cruise?

The sweet spot for a Nile cruise runs from October to April, when milder temperatures make temple visits genuinely enjoyable. It is worth steering clear of the peak summer window between May and September, when the mercury regularly climbs to punishing highs.

Is the River Nile Cruise Worth It?

Absolutely — a Nile cruise remains one of the most elegant ways to experience Egypt, pairing effortless river travel with expertly guided visits to the great temples and tombs. You gain comfort, convenience, and a genuinely memorable cultural immersion in a single package.

Can You Swim in the Nile River?

Swimming in the Nile itself is generally discouraged, given water quality, unpredictable currents and the presence of river wildlife. Most cruise operators do not permit guests to swim directly in the river.

What is the Dress Code on Nile Cruises?

Daytime dress aboard Nile cruises is easy-going and casual, with light, breathable fabrics the smartest choice for Egypt’s warm climate. Evenings lean toward smart casual for dinners and onboard events, and modest coverage is always appreciated at temples and other religious or historical sites.
