Tour Overview

Trade the desert heat for the cool hush of the Red Sea on a full snorkelling day at Ras Mohammed National Park, where the tip of the Sinai Peninsula shelters some of the richest coral reefs on the planet. After a short cruise from Sharm El Sheikh, your boat drops anchor above turquoise shallows so clear you can count the fish before you jump in. Float over pristine coral gardens patrolled by butterflyfish, parrotfish and inquisitive moray eels, watch for green turtles gliding past, and drift along the park’s celebrated coral walls where the reef plunges into deep blue. Between swims, dry off on a sun-soaked deck, sip something cold and let a friendly, watchful crew handle the details. Snorkellers of every level are welcome, from first-timers finding their fins to seasoned swimmers chasing the perfect drift. Reserve your Ras Mohammed snorkelling day with Daily Pyramids Tours and let the Red Sea do the rest.

Tipping Guidelines in Egypt

Tipping (“baksheesh”) is a customary way to show appreciation for good service in Egypt. Though not mandatory, it is widely appreciated:

  • Tour guide: $15–$20 per day per group
  • Driver: $5–$10 per day per group
  • Nile Cruise crew: $5–$10 per person per night (shared among staff)
  • Hotel staff (porters, housekeeping): Small tips of $1–$2

Tipping is generally not included in your package price. We recommend carrying small USD or EGP bills for tipping convenience.

FAQ

What is the Best Time to Travel to Egypt?

The most rewarding window for a trip to Egypt runs through the winter months, from November to February, when daytime temperatures are pleasantly mild and outdoor sights like the pyramids, Luxor’s temples and the Sinai coast are a joy to explore. It’s best to avoid the height of summer, from June to August, when the mercury can climb above 40°C (104°F) across much of the country and long days in the open become genuinely tough.

What is needed to enter Egypt?

To enter Egypt, most travellers will need the following in order:

  • Passport: Valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

  • Visa: Depending on your nationality, you may need to arrange a visa before you fly or pick one up on arrival, and some passports qualify for an e-visa.

  • Travel Insurance: Strongly recommended to cover medical care and any unexpected hiccups during the trip.

  • Vaccinations: No specific jabs are mandatory for entry, but it’s wise to speak with your doctor about routine and recommended vaccinations before you travel.

Is it Safe to Travel to Egypt Right Now?

Egypt is broadly a safe and welcoming destination for tourists, with visible security around major sites and popular resort towns, and a well-established tourism infrastructure looking after visitors. As with any trip abroad, it’s sensible to keep an eye on your own government’s travel advice, tune in to local news while you’re on the ground, and take the usual sensible precautions.

How do I book a trip?

  • Decide Your Travel Dates and Budget
Start by pinning down when you’d like to travel and how much you’re comfortable spending. That framework makes it far easier to compare flights, hotels and tour packages.

  • Choose Your Itinerary and Destinations
Egypt is packed with headline experiences, from Cairo and the Pyramids of Giza to Luxor, Aswan, a Nile Cruise, Alexandria and the Red Sea coast. Decide which of these appeal most and how long you’d like to spend at each.

  • Find a Reliable Tour Operator or Travel Agency
Look for a trusted Egyptian tour operator, an international travel agency or a reputable online platform that specialises in Egypt. Read recent reviews and ratings carefully so you know you’re in good hands.

  • Select a Tour Package or Customize Your Trip
Many companies offer ready-made packages bundling flights, hotels, transfers and guided touring. If you’d rather build something bespoke, most will happily tailor an itinerary around your interests and budget.

  • Make a Reservation
Once you’ve settled on an itinerary, contact your operator to confirm availability. You’ll typically share your traveller details and pay a deposit or the full balance, depending on their booking policy.

  • Prepare Your Travel Documents
Check that your passport is in date, sort your Egyptian visa if you need one, and keep printed or digital copies of your itinerary, hotel vouchers and tour confirmations close at hand.

  • Pack and Get Ready
Pack for the season and the activities you’ve planned, and don’t forget the essentials: comfortable walking shoes, high-factor sunscreen, a hat and a plug adapter.

  • Enjoy Your Trip!
Once you land, follow the itinerary at your own pace, keep your guide or agency in the loop, and give yourself over to Egypt’s remarkable history and culture.

Is Tipping Included in the Tour Price?

Tipping, known locally as “baksheesh,” is woven into daily life in Egypt and is rarely built into the tour price. Guides, drivers, hotel staff and boat crews all appreciate a gratuity for good service, and a fair benchmark is around 10-15% of the bill or the value of the service you’ve received, adjusted up or down to reflect how well things went.
