Tour Overview

Swap the sun lounger for the saddle of a quad bike and let the Sinai desert do the rest. Just beyond Sharm El-Sheikh, a wide expanse of copper sand, wind-carved ridges and open plains waits to be crossed at your own pace. Grip the throttle, follow your guide along well-worn desert tracks, and pause where the mountains lean into the horizon in silent, sun-baked ranks. As afternoon slides into evening, the light turns to honey and the dunes glow beneath a huge Sinai sky. Newcomers are talked through the controls and safety basics before setting off, so nerves settle quickly and the fun starts fast. Tipping Guidelines in Egypt

Tipping (“baksheesh”) is a customary way to show appreciation for good service in Egypt. Though not mandatory, it is widely appreciated:

  • Tour guide: $15–$20 per day per group
  • Driver: $5–$10 per day per group
  • Nile Cruise crew: $5–$10 per person per night (shared among staff)
  • Hotel staff (porters, housekeeping): Small tips of $1–$2

Tipping is generally not included in your package price. We recommend carrying small USD or EGP bills for tipping convenience.

FAQ

What is the Best Time to Travel to Egypt?

Egypt is at its most inviting during the cooler winter stretch from November to February, when the days stay mild and the light is perfect for exploring temples, tombs and desert landscapes without breaking a sweat. It is worth avoiding the height of summer between June and August, when the mercury can climb past 40°C (104°F) across much of the country and outdoor sightseeing becomes hard going.

What is needed to enter Egypt?

Most travellers arriving in Egypt will need the following in order:

  • Passport: Valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

  • Visa: Depending on your nationality, you may need to obtain a visa in advance or upon arrival. Some nationalities are eligible for e-visas.

  • Travel Insurance: Recommended to cover medical emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances.

  • Vaccinations: While no specific vaccinations are required for entry, it’s advisable to check with your healthcare provider for any recommended vaccinations.

Is it Safe to Travel to Egypt Right Now?

Egypt is generally a safe and welcoming destination for visitors. Considerable effort has gone into protecting tourists, particularly around headline sites and major cities, and a visible security presence is common at popular attractions. As with any trip abroad, it is still sensible to check your government’s latest travel advice before departure and keep an eye on local news while you are on the ground.

How do I book a trip?

  • Decide Your Travel Dates and Budget
Pin down when you would like to visit and roughly how much you are ready to spend. Having both in mind makes it far easier to line up flights, hotels and tours.

  • Choose Your Itinerary and Destinations
From Cairo and the Pyramids of Giza to Luxor, Aswan, the Nile Cruise, Alexandria and the Red Sea resorts, Egypt offers plenty of choice. Decide which regions matter most and how many nights each deserves.

  • Find a Reliable Tour Operator or Travel Agency
You might book through a locally based Egyptian operator, an international agency or a specialist online platform. Reviews and ratings are the best way to check they are the real deal.

  • Select a Tour Package or Customize Your Trip
Ready-made packages often bundle flights, hotels, transfers and guided sightseeing. If none quite fits, most operators are happy to shape a bespoke itinerary around your interests and budget.

  • Make a Reservation
Once your plan is agreed, get in touch with the operator to confirm availability. Expect to share traveller details and pay either a deposit or the full balance depending on their policy.

  • Prepare Your Travel Documents
Double-check your passport validity and apply for an Egyptian visa if your nationality needs one. Print copies of your itinerary, hotel vouchers and tour confirmations to keep handy.

  • Pack and Get Ready
Pack for the season and the activities you have booked. Comfortable walking shoes, high-factor sunscreen and a universal travel adapter always earn their place in the bag.

  • Enjoy Your Trip!
When you land, follow the itinerary at your own pace, stay in touch with your guide or agency and give yourself over to Egypt’s astonishing history and warm hospitality.

Is Tipping Included in the Tour Price?

Tipping, known locally as “baksheesh”, is very much part of everyday life in Egypt and is rarely built into the tour price. Guides, drivers, porters and hotel staff all appreciate a small token in recognition of their help. As a rough guide, tipping around 10-15% of the bill or service cost, adjusted to how attentive the service felt, works well.
