Tour Overview

Drift into the dawn above Luxor and watch the world’s greatest open-air museum wake up beneath your basket. The burners breathe, the envelope swells, and moments later the West Bank spreads out in a mosaic of sugarcane green, desert ochre and river silver. Below you, the Valley of the Kings hides its royal secrets in the folds of the Theban Hills, the Colossi of Memnon stand sentinel over the fields, and mortuary temples glow pink in the first rays of sun. It is silent, weightless flying, safe hands on the ropes, and camera-ready in every direction. Book your sunrise balloon with Daily Pyramids Tours and see Luxor the way the ancients imagined the gods did.

Tipping Guidelines in Egypt

Tipping (“baksheesh”) is a customary way to show appreciation for good service in Egypt. Though not mandatory, it is widely appreciated:

  • Tour guide: $15–$20 per day per group
  • Driver: $5–$10 per day per group
  • Nile Cruise crew: $5–$10 per person per night (shared among staff)
  • Hotel staff (porters, housekeeping): Small tips of $1–$2

Tipping is generally not included in your package price. We recommend carrying small USD or EGP bills for tipping convenience.

FAQ

What is the Best Time to Travel to Egypt?

Egypt is at its most inviting in the cooler winter months from November to February, when daytime temperatures are pleasant for wandering pyramids, temples and open-air sites. It is wise to avoid the deep summer window of June to August, when the mercury can climb beyond 40°C (104°F) across much of the country and long outdoor visits become genuinely tough.

What is needed to enter Egypt?

Most travellers heading to Egypt will need the following essentials in order:

  • Passport: Valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

  • Visa: Depending on your nationality, you may need to arrange a visa in advance or obtain one on arrival. Several nationalities are also eligible for the convenient e-visa.

  • Travel Insurance: Strongly recommended to cover medical emergencies and any unexpected disruptions to your trip.

  • Vaccinations: No specific vaccinations are required for entry, but a quick chat with your healthcare provider is a sensible precaution for any recommended jabs.

Is it Safe to Travel to Egypt Right Now?

Egypt is broadly a safe and welcoming destination for tourists. Considerable effort has been invested in protecting visitors, particularly around major heritage sites and city centres. As with any international trip, it is sensible to keep an eye on your government’s latest travel advisories and stay tuned to local news for any updates during your stay.

How do I book a trip?

  • Decide Your Travel Dates and Budget
Settle on when you want to travel and how much you are comfortable spending. This early clarity makes it far easier to compare flights, hotels and tour packages.

  • Choose Your Itinerary and Destinations
Egypt is packed with icons: Cairo, the Pyramids of Giza, Luxor, Aswan, a Nile Cruise, Alexandria and the Red Sea resorts. Choose which places call to you and how long each deserves.

  • Find a Reliable Tour Operator or Travel Agency
You can book through a locally based Egyptian operator, an international agency, or a specialist online platform. Read genuine reviews and ratings carefully before you commit.

  • Select a Tour Package or Customize Your Trip
Ready-made packages bundle flights, hotels, transfers and guided touring into one price. If you prefer, tailor-made itineraries let you shape every day around your own interests and budget.

  • Make a Reservation
Once your package is chosen, contact the operator to confirm availability. You will share your personal details and pay either a deposit or the full amount according to the booking policy.

  • Prepare Your Travel Documents
Check that your passport is valid and apply for an Egyptian visa where required. Confirm every booking and keep printed copies of your itinerary, hotel vouchers and tour confirmations.

  • Pack and Get Ready
Pack for the season and your planned activities. Comfortable walking shoes, high-factor sunscreen and a universal travel adapter are non-negotiable essentials.

  • Enjoy Your Trip!
On arrival, follow your itinerary, keep in touch with your guide or agency, and give yourself over to the extraordinary history and culture of Egypt.

Is Tipping Included in the Tour Price?

Tipping, known locally as “baksheesh,” is woven into everyday life in Egypt and is generally not included in the tour price. Guides, drivers, hotel staff and other service providers all appreciate a gratuity, and a fair benchmark is roughly 10-15% of the bill or service cost, scaled to how attentive the service has been.
