After breakfast at your hotel, your private Egyptologist arrives to lead you into more than four thousand years of history.
The morning belongs to the Giza Plateau. Stand at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, walk between the Pyramid of Khafre and the smaller Pyramid of Menkaure, and then draw close to the Great Sphinx, the lion-bodied guardian carved from a single limestone outcrop. A short stop at the Valley Temple reveals where pharaohs were once prepared for eternity.
Lunch follows at a well-regarded local restaurant.
In the afternoon, step inside the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the world’s largest home for a single civilisation. Its galleries thread you through the Old, Middle and New Kingdoms with royal statues, everyday tools and gilded treasures that bring each era to life.

An early breakfast is followed by a transfer to Cairo Airport for your short flight south to Aswan.
On landing, your local guide is waiting to take you first to the Aswan High Dam, a monumental piece of twentieth-century engineering that tames the Nile floods and powers much of the country.
From there, a short boat ride carries you to the graceful Philae Temple, painstakingly moved stone by stone to Agilkia Island. Dedicated to the goddess Isis, its walls are alive with carved myths and finely worked reliefs.
By early afternoon you board your deluxe Nile cruise, enjoy lunch on board and drift upriver in the direction of Kom Ombo.

In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu, one of the best-preserved temples in the country, where huge pylons and crisp reliefs still record ancient rites.

Wake to breakfast as the cruise arrives at Luxor. Your guide then leads you across the river to the West Bank, once the domain of the dead.
First stop is the celebrated Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were laid to rest in tombs cut deep into the cliffs, their walls still bright with scenes of the afterlife.
You continue to the terraced Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, rising in three levels against a sheer rock face, and finish at the Colossi of Memnon, two giant seated statues that once flanked a lost temple of Amenhotep III.

After breakfast, disembark for a morning on Luxor’s East Bank.
Begin at the Karnak Temple Complex, a sprawling sanctuary built for the god Amun over some two thousand years. The Hypostyle Hall, with its 134 towering columns, remains one of the great sights of the ancient world.
A short drive south brings you to Luxor Temple, guarded by seated colossi and connected to Karnak by the newly restored Avenue of Sphinxes.
Afterwards, transfer to Luxor Airport for your flight back to Cairo, where a private car awaits to return you to your hotel for a relaxed evening.

An early breakfast sets you up for the scenic drive north to Alexandria, Egypt’s great Mediterranean port and second city.
Your day begins deep underground at the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, a remarkable necropolis where Pharaonic, Greek and Roman art meet in a single tomb complex.
Above ground, Pompey’s Pillar, a lone red-granite column raised in honour of the Emperor Diocletian, marks the ruined precinct of the Serapeum.
Enjoy lunch at a local seafront restaurant.
The afternoon takes you to the 15th-century Citadel of Qaitbay, built on the very foundations of the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria, before finishing at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a striking modern homage to the ancient library, filled with millions of books and rotating exhibitions.
You are then transferred to your hotel to check in.

Leave the coast behind and set out across the Western Desert toward the far-flung oasis of Siwa, close to the Libyan border.
On arrival, explore the honey-coloured mudbrick ruins of Shali Fortress, the ancient stronghold at the heart of the old town. Continue to the Temple of the Oracle, where Alexander the Great is said to have been proclaimed the son of Amun, sealing his claim to divine kingship.
Visit the nearby Temple of Amun Ra, pause at the Siwa House Museum for a glimpse of Berber life, and climb the Mountain of the Dead to see its rock-cut tombs and painted burial chambers.
Close the day beside Siwa’s salt lakes, where the sinking sun turns the mineral crust and mirror-still water into pure gold.
