Tour Overview

Give yourself three easy-going days and Egypt’s two most compelling cities open up beautifully. Cairo sets the tone with the timeless Pyramids of Giza standing shoulder to shoulder with the enigmatic Sphinx, followed by the gleaming halls of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the aromatic alleyways of Khan el-Khalili. Then the road turns north to the Mediterranean, where Alexandria layers Greek, Roman and modern chapters into a single afternoon: catacombs, a soaring Roman pillar, a sea-fortress on the old lighthouse foundations, and the sweeping arc of the new Bibliotheca. Private transfers, an English-speaking local guide and thoughtfully chosen hotels tie everything together, so all you need to do is show up and enjoy. Travel with Daily Pyramids Tours and let the ancient world and the coast meet on your itinerary.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Giza Pyramids & Grand Egyptian Museum Tour

A friendly Daily Pyramids representative will be waiting at Cairo International Airport holding a name sign, ready to help with luggage and paperwork before ushering you into a private, air-conditioned vehicle for the drive across the city.

Your first stop is the Giza Plateau itself. Here you’ll stand at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Khufu and its companions, the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, before meeting the Great Sphinx, that leonine guardian with a pharaoh’s face who has watched the desert edge for thousands of years. A visit to the Valley Temple, once used for purification and mummification rites, rounds out one of the most photographed panoramas on earth.

Lunch follows at a well-regarded local restaurant chosen for its authentic flavours.

In the afternoon you’ll step inside the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), an architectural landmark and one of the largest museums in the world dedicated to a single civilisation. Vast, light-filled galleries walk you through the Old, Middle and New Kingdoms, with colossal royal statues, glittering jewellery and everyday objects that bring the ancient Egyptians vividly to life.

Once you’ve had your fill of history, your driver will return you comfortably to your Cairo hotel.

Overnight in Cairo

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Optional Evening Activity: Return to the plateau for the Sound & Light Show, where sweeping projections and a stirring narration retell the story of Giza against the darkened silhouettes of the pyramids — a memorable way to close the day.

Day 2: Full-Day Tour of Alexandria

After breakfast your private guide and driver collect you from the hotel for the coastal run up to Alexandria, Egypt’s Mediterranean capital and a city built on layer upon layer of history.

Begin underground at the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, a remarkable 2nd-century AD necropolis where Egyptian, Greek and Roman motifs share the same walls. Spiral staircases, carved chambers and hybrid deities give a rare glimpse of a truly cosmopolitan world.

Emerge above ground at Pompey’s Pillar, the towering Roman column raised to Emperor Diocletian, and take in the surrounding ruins of the Serapeum, once a temple to the god Serapis.

A leisurely lunch at a quality local restaurant sets you up for the afternoon.

Next comes Qaitbay Citadel, a handsome 15th-century fortress built on the very foundations of the Lighthouse of Alexandria — one of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World. From its ramparts the Mediterranean stretches wide open, and it is easy to imagine the harbour in its Ptolemaic heyday.

The day closes at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the striking modern successor to the ancient library. Its sloping disc of a reading room, millions of volumes and rotating exhibitions keep the city’s centuries-old love affair with learning very much alive.

You’ll then be driven back in comfort to your Cairo hotel for the night.

Travel Policy Guide of Daily Pyramids Tours

Pricing Policy

All Daily Pyramids Tours rates are published in US Dollars (USD) unless a different currency is stated. That said, we are happy to receive payment in most major currencies, including Euros (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP), converted at the official daily exchange rate in force on the day you pay.

Because pricing tracks live market costs, seasonality and supplier availability, quoted rates may shift until they are secured. The moment your deposit or full payment lands with us, however, your price is locked in and protected from further change.

What’s Included in Our Packages:

  • Comfortable accommodation as detailed in your itinerary
  • Private or group transportation
  • Professional, licensed tour guides
  • Daily breakfast and other meals as specified
  • Entrance fees to included attractions
  • Domestic flights or transfers (where applicable)
  • 24/7 on-ground support

Please refer to your personal booking confirmation for the definitive list of what is and isn’t included on your specific tour.

Holiday Supplement:

A 25% surcharge applies to all Nile Cruises and tour packages booked during Christmas, New Year, and Easter holidays due to peak demand.

Booking Confirmation Policy

To keep the booking process straightforward, Daily Pyramids Tours applies different payment terms depending on what you have booked:

  • Day Tours & Excursions: Full payment (100%) is required at booking to confirm your reservation.
  • Multi-Day Tour Packages & Nile Cruises: A 30% deposit is required to secure your booking. The balance must be paid at least 15 days before arrival.
  • Christmas, New Year & Easter Bookings: Due to high seasonal demand, a 50% deposit is needed to confirm reservations during these periods.

Once your payment reaches us you’ll receive email confirmation together with your finalised itinerary, travel documents and a receipt covering every amount paid.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Travel plans sometimes shift, and our cancellation policy is designed to be as fair as possible:

  • 30 days or more before arrival: Full refund minus any bank or transaction fees
  • 15 to 29 days before arrival: 25% cancellation fee of total tour cost
  • 7 to 14 days before arrival: 50% cancellation fee
  • Less than 7 days before arrival or no-show: 100% cancellation fee

Where a refund is due, it is issued within 14 business days of receiving your cancellation in writing. Please be aware that certain Nile Cruises and hotels operate their own stricter cancellation rules; whenever these apply we will flag them clearly in your itinerary before you book.

Children Policy

Families are very welcome on our tours, and Daily Pyramids Tours applies the following age-based pricing:

  • Infants under 2 years: Free of charge
  • Children 2–5 years: 25% of adult price
  • Children 6–11 years: 50% of adult price
  • Children 12 years and above: Full adult price

These reductions are available when the child shares a room with two full-paying adults. A handful of Nile Cruises and luxury hotels apply their own minimum-age or child policies; whenever that is the case we’ll make it clear in your quote and itinerary.

Optional Visits & Entry Tickets

A few memorable experiences sit outside the standard package and can be added either in advance or on the ground, depending on availability. Popular options include:

  • Entry inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu and other tombs
  • Sound & Light Shows at Giza Pyramids, Karnak, or Philae Temples
  • Hot air balloon rides over Luxor at sunrise
  • Camel rides or horse-drawn carriage tours in historic districts
  • Private photo sessions at iconic landmarks

Optional activities can be settled in USD or in Egyptian Pounds (EGP), and pre-booking is a good idea during the busy winter months when the popular slots go quickly.

Additional Expenses to Budget For

Our packages are designed to cover the essentials, but it is sensible to set aside a small daily budget for:

  • Personal purchases (souvenirs, snacks, etc.)
  • Beverages during meals unless specified
  • Hotel extras (minibar, room service, laundry, etc.)
  • Egypt entry visa fees (usually payable on arrival)
  • SIM cards or internet access unless provided
  • Gratuities and optional experiences

Keeping a modest amount of Egyptian Pounds (EGP) on hand is helpful for tipping and for shopping in local markets where cards are rarely accepted.

Tipping Guidelines in Egypt

Tipping — known locally as “baksheesh” — is woven into everyday life in Egypt. It’s never obligatory, but it is warmly received and here are the amounts most travellers use as a rough guide:

  • Tour guide: $15–$20 per day per group
  • Driver: $5–$10 per day per group
  • Nile Cruise crew: $5–$10 per person per night (shared among staff)
  • Hotel staff (porters, housekeeping): Small tips of $1–$2

Gratuities are not included in your tour price, so we suggest carrying a stash of small USD or EGP notes to make tipping easy throughout the trip.

FAQ

What is the Best Time to Travel to Egypt?

For most travellers, the sweet spot for visiting Egypt is the winter half of the year, roughly November to February, when daytime temperatures are pleasant for wandering pyramids, temples and open-air sites. High summer, from June to August, is best avoided if you can: the mercury regularly climbs above 40°C (104°F) across much of the country, making all-day sightseeing hard work.

What is needed to enter Egypt?

Before you fly, make sure your paperwork is in order. As a rule of thumb, tourists need:

  • Passport: Valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

  • Visa: Depending on your nationality, you may need to obtain a visa in advance or upon arrival. Some nationalities are eligible for e-visas.

  • Travel Insurance: Recommended to cover medical emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances.

  • Vaccinations: While no specific vaccinations are required for entry, it’s advisable to check with your healthcare provider for any recommended vaccinations.

Is it Safe to Travel to Egypt Right Now?

Egypt is, on the whole, a safe and welcoming destination for tourists. The authorities invest heavily in visible security around major sites, cities and transport hubs, and the tourism industry runs smoothly for the vast majority of visitors. Before you travel it is still worth glancing at your own government’s current advisory and keeping an eye on the local news, as you would anywhere abroad.

How do I book a trip?

  • Decide Your Travel Dates and Budget
Pin down when you want to travel and how much you have to spend. Locking these in first makes every later decision — flights, hotels, tours — much simpler.

  • Choose Your Itinerary and Destinations
From Cairo and the Pyramids of Giza to Luxor, Aswan, a Nile Cruise, Alexandria and the Red Sea coast, Egypt offers plenty of routes. Pick the places that excite you and how many nights you want in each.

  • Find a Reliable Tour Operator or Travel Agency
Book through a local Egyptian specialist, an international agency or a reputable online platform. Reviews, ratings and word of mouth are the best way to separate solid operators from the rest.

  • Select a Tour Package or Customize Your Trip
Ready-made packages bundle flights, hotels, transport and guiding into one straightforward price. If you’d rather shape things yourself, most operators are happy to build a tailored itinerary around your interests and budget.

  • Make a Reservation
Once you have a shortlist, confirm availability with your chosen operator, share your personal details and pay either a deposit or the full amount, according to their terms.

  • Prepare Your Travel Documents
Double-check that your passport has enough validity, arrange your Egyptian visa if required, and keep copies of your itinerary, hotel vouchers and tour confirmations to hand.

  • Pack and Get Ready
Dress for the season and the activities you have booked. Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and a universal adapter are on almost every seasoned traveller’s list.

  • Enjoy Your Trip!
Once you land, follow the plan, keep your guide’s number close and give yourself over to Egypt’s history, food and famously warm hospitality.

Is Tipping Included in the Tour Price?

Tipping — “baksheesh” in Arabic — is a normal part of the service culture in Egypt and is not built into the tour price. Guides, drivers and hotel staff all appreciate a gesture that reflects the service they’ve provided; as a general benchmark, around 10-15% of the bill or service cost tends to hit the right note.
