Itinerary

Day 1: Cairo Arrival

Welcome to the land of the pharaohs. As you clear the arrivals hall at Cairo International Airport, our representative will be waiting with a personalised name-sign to greet you and take the stress out of those first few minutes on Egyptian soil. From there, a private air-conditioned vehicle whisks you straight to your Cairo hotel, so you can settle in, unwind and prepare for the discoveries ahead.

Meals: None

Overnight: Cairo

Day 2: Giza Pyramids & Grand Egyptian Museum Experience

After breakfast at the hotel, your Egyptologist guide arrives to lead you into the Giza plateau — one of the great open-air museums of the ancient world.

The morning belongs to the Pyramids of Giza. Take your time in front of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, tracing the sheer scale and mathematical precision that has defied millennia. Nearby, the Sphinx keeps its silent watch, its lion’s body and pharaoh’s face carved from a single limestone outcrop. A visit to the Valley Temple reveals how the pharaohs prepared their kings for eternity through elaborate purification and mummification rites.

Break for a relaxed lunch at a well-regarded local restaurant, then continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) — a landmark cultural institution set within sight of the pyramids themselves. Its soaring galleries lead you through royal statuary, gilded funerary treasures, jewellery and everyday objects, telling the story of Egypt’s Old, Middle and New Kingdoms in vivid detail.

When the day’s discoveries are done, you’ll be driven comfortably back to your Cairo hotel.

Day 3: Alexandria Full-Day Adventure

An early breakfast sets you up for a scenic drive north to Alexandria, Egypt’s Mediterranean capital, where cosmopolitan history meets salty sea breezes.

Begin below ground at the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, a haunting burial complex where Egyptian, Greco-Roman and Byzantine artistic traditions collide in the same rock-cut chambers. From there, drive on to Pompey’s Pillar — a solitary column of red granite raised in tribute to Emperor Diocletian — and take a look at the neighbouring remains of the Serapeum temple.

A leisurely lunch at a local restaurant follows before you head to Qaitbay Citadel, the 15th-century sea fortress that rose on the very foundations of the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria. From its ramparts, soak up wide views over the harbour while your guide brings the city’s long career as a trading and intellectual crossroads to life.

Round off the day at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the striking modern homage to the ancient Library. Its disc-shaped facade opens onto reading halls, exhibitions and millions of volumes, all keeping Alexandria’s scholarly spirit alive.

Afterwards, check in to your Alexandria hotel for the night.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Overnight: Alexandria

Note: The Alexandria Library is closed on Fridays and national holidays.

Day 4: Leisure Day in Alexandria or Optional Excursion to El-Alamein

Take the morning at your own pace — stroll the sweeping Corniche, sit down to a plate of fresh seafood, or simply linger by the Mediterranean and watch the fishing boats come and go.

Optional Excursion: Join a guided day trip to El-Alamein, the pivotal WWII battlefield. You’ll visit the military museum and pay respects at the Commonwealth war cemeteries that stand in memory of the soldiers who fell here.

In the afternoon, we drive back to Cairo and return you to your hotel.

Meals: Breakfast

Overnight: Cairo

Day 5: Discover Memphis, Saqqara & Dahshur

After breakfast, meet your certified Egyptologist for a full day devoted to the birthplace of pyramid building.

First stop: Saqqara, home to the Step Pyramid of Djoser — the oldest pyramid on earth and a turning point in the history of monumental architecture. Designed by the polymath Imhotep in the 27th century BCE, it set the template every pharaoh’s tomb would follow.

Continue on to Memphis, once the mighty capital of unified Egypt. Wander the open-air ruins to see the colossal fallen statue of Ramses II and the delicately carved alabaster Sphinx.

Finish at Dahshur, a quieter site with two remarkable milestones. The Bent Pyramid, with its curious change of slope midway up, records the moment ancient engineers were still solving the geometry of the true pyramid; the neighbouring Red Pyramid is their first successful smooth-sided result.

Return to Cairo in the evening after a day steeped in extraordinary heritage.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Travel Policy Guide of Daily Pyramids Tours

Pricing Policy

All Daily Pyramids Tours prices are published in US Dollars (USD) unless the itinerary specifies otherwise. For your convenience, we are happy to accept settlement in most other major currencies — including Euros (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP) — converted at the official interbank exchange rate on the day your payment is processed.

Because rates are influenced by seasonality, supplier costs and general market conditions, quoted prices are subject to change until confirmed. Once we receive your deposit or full payment, however, the price of your booking is locked in and fully guaranteed.

What’s Included in Our Packages:

  • Comfortable accommodation as detailed in your itinerary
  • Private or group transportation
  • Professional, licensed tour guides
  • Daily breakfast and other meals as specified
  • Entrance fees to included attractions
  • Domestic flights or transfers (where applicable)
  • 24/7 on-ground support

Please refer to your personalised booking confirmation and itinerary for the precise list of inclusions and exclusions that applies to your trip.

Holiday Supplement:

A 25% surcharge applies to all Nile Cruises and tour packages booked during Christmas, New Year, and Easter holidays due to peak demand.

Booking Confirmation Policy

To keep the booking process straightforward, our payment terms are set out clearly by service type:

  • Day Tours & Excursions: Full payment (100%) is required at booking to confirm your reservation.
  • Multi-Day Tour Packages & Nile Cruises: A 30% deposit is required to secure your booking. The balance must be paid at least 15 days before arrival.
  • Christmas, New Year & Easter Bookings: Due to high seasonal demand, a 50% deposit is needed to confirm reservations during these periods.

Once your payment reaches us, you’ll receive written confirmation along with your final itinerary and travel documents by email, plus receipts for every transaction.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

We understand that travel plans occasionally have to change. Our cancellation terms are as follows:

  • 30 days or more before arrival: Full refund minus any bank or transaction fees
  • 15 to 29 days before arrival: 25% cancellation fee of total tour cost
  • 7 to 14 days before arrival: 50% cancellation fee
  • Less than 7 days before arrival or no-show: 100% cancellation fee

Where a refund is due, it is processed within 14 business days of receiving your written cancellation. Please note that certain Nile Cruises and hotels operate under stricter cancellation rules, and any such conditions will be spelled out in your itinerary in advance.

Children Policy

Families are warmly welcomed at Daily Pyramids Tours, and we apply the following child rates:

  • Infants under 2 years: Free of charge
  • Children 2–5 years: 25% of adult price
  • Children 6–11 years: 50% of adult price
  • Children 12 years and above: Full adult price

These discounts apply when the child shares a room with two full-paying adults. A handful of Nile Cruises and luxury hotels operate their own rules for younger guests, so any variations will be clearly noted in your itinerary where relevant.

Optional Visits & Entry Tickets

Some of Egypt’s most memorable experiences sit outside the standard package and can be arranged as optional add-ons, either in advance or on the ground (subject to availability). Popular choices include:

  • Entry inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu and other tombs
  • Sound & Light Shows at Giza Pyramids, Karnak, or Philae Temples
  • Hot air balloon rides over Luxor at sunrise
  • Camel rides or horse-drawn carriage tours in historic districts
  • Private photo sessions at iconic landmarks

Optional experiences can be settled in USD or Egyptian Pounds (EGP). Where possible, we recommend confirming them in advance, particularly in the busier winter travel season.

Additional Expenses to Budget For

Our packages are generously inclusive, but there are a few personal costs it’s worth budgeting for:

  • Personal purchases (souvenirs, snacks, etc.)
  • Beverages during meals unless specified
  • Hotel extras (minibar, room service, laundry, etc.)
  • Egypt entry visa fees (usually payable on arrival)
  • SIM cards or internet access unless provided
  • Gratuities and optional experiences

It pays to keep a small amount of Egyptian Pounds (EGP) on you day to day — handy for tips, small purchases and browsing the bazaars.

Tipping Guidelines in Egypt

Tipping — known locally as “baksheesh” — is a well-established way of thanking someone for good service in Egypt. It’s never obligatory, but it is genuinely appreciated. As a rough guide:

  • Tour guide: $15–$20 per day per group
  • Driver: $5–$10 per day per group
  • Nile Cruise crew: $5–$10 per person per night (shared among staff)
  • Hotel staff (porters, housekeeping): Small tips of $1–$2

Gratuities are not included in the tour price, so a stash of small-denomination USD or EGP notes will make day-to-day tipping much easier.

FAQ

What is the Best Time to Travel to Egypt?

Egypt is at its most enjoyable in the cooler winter months, from November through February, when daytime temperatures are pleasantly mild for exploring open-air sites like the Giza plateau, Luxor’s temples and the Nile Valley. It’s best to avoid the peak of summer between June and August, when the mercury can climb above 40°C (104°F) across much of the country, making long days outdoors genuinely taxing.

What is needed to enter Egypt?

Before you fly to Egypt, make sure you have the following in order:

  • Passport: Valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

  • Visa: Depending on your nationality, you may need to obtain a visa in advance or upon arrival. Some nationalities are eligible for e-visas.

  • Travel Insurance: Recommended to cover medical emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances.

  • Vaccinations: While no specific vaccinations are required for entry, it’s advisable to check with your healthcare provider for any recommended vaccinations.

Is it Safe to Travel to Egypt Right Now?

Egypt remains a safe and welcoming destination for international travellers. The authorities maintain a visible presence at major tourist sites and city centres, and the tourism industry as a whole is geared to look after visitors well. As with any trip, it’s sensible to keep an eye on the latest travel advisory from your own government and follow local news while you’re on the ground.

How do I book a trip?

  • Decide Your Travel Dates and Budget
Determine when you want to travel and how much you are willing to spend. This helps narrow down your options for flights, accommodations, and tours.

  • Choose Your Itinerary and Destinations
Egypt offers many popular spots such as Cairo, the Pyramids of Giza, Luxor, Aswan, the Nile Cruise, Alexandria, and the Red Sea resorts. Decide which places you want to visit and for how long.

  • Find a Reliable Tour Operator or Travel Agency
You can book through a local Egyptian tour operator, an international travel agency, or online platforms that specialize in Egypt tours. Check reviews and ratings to ensure they are trustworthy.

  • Select a Tour Package or Customize Your Trip
Many companies offer pre-designed packages that include flights, hotels, transportation, and guided tours. If you prefer, you can also customize your trip based on your interests and budget.

  • Make a Reservation
Once you choose your package or itinerary, contact the tour operator to check availability. You will need to provide your personal details and pay a deposit or the full amount depending on the policy.

  • Prepare Your Travel Documents
Ensure your passport is valid and apply for an Egyptian visa if required. Confirm all bookings and print out your travel itinerary, hotel vouchers, and tour confirmations.

  • Pack and Get Ready
Prepare according to the weather and activities planned. Don’t forget essentials like comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and travel adapters.

  • Enjoy Your Trip!
On arrival, follow your itinerary, stay in contact with your guide or agency, and enjoy exploring Egypt’s rich history and culture.

Is Tipping Included in the Tour Price?

Tipping — locally known as “baksheesh” — is a familiar part of everyday life in Egypt and is not built into your tour price. Guides, drivers and hotel staff all appreciate a token of thanks for good service. A useful rule of thumb is to tip roughly 10-15% of the bill or service cost, adjusting up or down according to how well you were looked after.
